Farías began his studies in composition at the Modern School of Music in Santiago, Chile, under the guidance of Guillermo Rifo.
His music has been awarded first prize in some of Europe’s most important composition contests for the classical guitar, including the 6th Michele Pittaluga in
Alessandria, Italy in 2004 and the 18th Andrés Segovia Composition Competition in Almuñecar, Spain in 2005.
His music for orchestra has also received numerous accolades.
In December, 2003 the Chilean Modern String Orchestra honored him with their “Best Composer of the Season Award”. This orchestra has premiered some of
Farías’s pieces including “Concerto for Four Guitars, Percussion and String Orchestra” (2000); “Dezlía, for flamenco group, jazz ensemble and strings” (2003);
and “Concerto II for Solo Guitar and Double String Quintet” (2004).
In the year 2000, his “Concerto I for Solo Guitar and Instrumental Group” won third prize in the Xicoatl Kompositionswettbewerb fur Gitarre Agustín Barrios
Mangoré in Salzburg, Austria. The contest was judged by members of the Mozarteum and his piece was later premiered by renowned Cuban guitarist
Joaquín Clerch Díaz at the 25th Jahre Aspekte International Music Festival in Salzburg on February 10, 2001 with members of the Aspekte New Music
Ensemble directed by Kai Rohrig.
He is the founder and director of the Chilean Guitar Ensemble, a project funded by the Chilean National Arts Foundation in 2006. This ensemble is dedicated to the
expansion of guitar repertoire by Latin American composers with a special emphasis on those from Chile.
He has been invited to make lectures and workshops at the University of Hartford, Trinity College, George Washington University, North Carolina School of the Arts,
and at Wake Forest University, all of them in United States.
Currently, he is a professor of composition at the Modern School of Music in Santiago, Chile.

Composer and guitarist Alex Gómez (b. Spain, 1974) holds a Graduate in Composition (2007) and in Classical Guitar (2001) from Real Conservatorio Superior de Música Victoria Eugenia de Granada (Spain). He has received Jazz Guitar classes with Mike Stern in the International Guitar Festival 2007 (Cordoba, Spain) and Jazz Guitar and Harmony classes at Taller de Musics in Barcelona (1993).
His output as a composer includes works for solo instrument, chamber ensemble and symphony orchestra, including which includes the following works:
- “Sixty six secrets”, a work for tenor and soprano sax, performed for first time in the Superior Conservatory of Vienna Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität in February 2008.
- “Sueños” (2007), a work for tenor and soprano saxophone and live electronics composed by Alex Gómez, has been selected as a repertory work in the Saxophone Speciality in the Real Conservatorio Superior de Madrid and in the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música Victoria Eugenia de Granada (Spain).
He has also composed music for several Spanish TV channels.
Besides his musical production, it is also worthy his audiovisual work as a producer, which includes the following works:
- “Baby?”, an audiovisual creation awarded with the First Prize of the Audience in the III Competition of Ráfagas of TVE (Spanish Public Television).
- “Sueños”, an audiovisual poem, has been selected as finalist in the International Festival of Young Producers of Granada 2007, I Audiovisual Competition Tejidos Digitales 2007 (Madrid, Spain) and Cinespaña Festival 2007 (Toulouse, France).
- “Alma Cautiva”, awarded with the Second Prize in the International Festival of Young Film Producers of Granada 2008.
As a composer and guitarist he has played and/or directed several spectacles since 1992. He has taught music in several Music and High Schools since 2000.
Dopo essersi diplomato in Composizione e Musica Contemporanea con il massimo dei voti e la lode presso il Royal Northern College of Music di Manchester, Daniel Basford ha svolto e svolge un’intensa attività sia come compositore, sia come arrangiatore. Tra il 2003 ed il 2007 ha scritto molti dei suoi maggiori lavori, tra i quali il Concerto per sassofono contralto e orchestra e Rotating Dances per quattordici strumenti. Tra le opere commissionate, segnaliamo Shift, scritta su commissione della London Symphony Orchestra nell’ambito del Orchestra’s Panufnik Discovery Composition Project, e Partita in D, commissionatagli dal celebre direttore d’orchestra Timothy Reynish.
Sin dall’esordio alla Biennale di Venezia del 2001 la musica di Francesco Antonioni è stata salutata dalla critica come una promessa, ricca di inventiva, di freschezza e di indipendente originalità: «Un compositore che farà certamente parlare di sé» (Dino Villatico, La Repubblica). Dopo gli studi di pianoforte e composizione in conservatorio, ha seguito i corsi di perfezionamento dell’Accademia di Santa Cecilia di Roma con Azio Corghi, e del Royal College of Music di Londra, con Julian Anderson e George Benjamin, diplomandosi a pieni voti. Scrive musica di diversi generi, per diverse occasioni, spaziando in molti campi della produzione e della divulgazione musicale. Ha composto musica per orchestre, ensemble e solisti di grande prestigio internazionale, per trasmissioni televisive ed eventi multimediali.
Insegna composizione in conservatorio e conduce programmi radiofonici su Radio 3.
