Victoria Harmandjieva

The Bulgarian-born Swiss pianist, artist and professor, Victoria Harmandjieva,  is a graduate of the National Music Academy of Sofia. In 2002 she obtains a diploma of Virtuosity and first prize in the class of Dominique Merlet at the Conservatory of Music in Geneva. In 2004 she completes her post-graduate studies of contemporary music under the tutorship of William Blank and Jean-Jacques Balet, earning the Distinction and Congratulations of the Jury.

Victoria Harmandjieva participates in prestigious festivals across Europe with multiple award-winning performances at international competitions: festival of Aix-en-Provence, MANCA festival, Presence festival, etc. She is invited to play in OSR Geneva, conducted by Pinchas Steinberg, Bernhard Kontarsky, with the Ensemble of Contemporary Music Musicatreize directed by Roland Hayrabedian and produces recordings for the Sweiss Televsion and for RTS Espace2, as well as for Radio Oslo, Radio France, France Musique and the publishing house Actes Sud.

In a parallel to her career as an instrumentalist, Victoria Harmandjieva conceptualizes and produces her own multidisciplinary artistic projects and performances. These efforts are supported by the Nestlé Foundation for the Arts, the Foundation Muziek Centrum Nederland and residences at the Reflet Theater of Vevey.

In 2003, Victoria Harmandjieva founds AlterEgo – project, a company which allows her to create multimedia and multidisciplinary artworks, as well as develop a team of artistic researches and any contemporary creation.

Victoria Harmandjieva collaborates with a number of partners on her projects including the writers Alberto Manguel and Olivier Balazuc, the director Lorenzo Malaguerra, the conductors Roland Hayrabedian and Franck Villard.  Other partners inlcude the publishing house Gallimard in Paris, Radio RTS Espace2 (the book-CD of the opera for young audience The Child and at Night) and The Ensemble Musicatreize, the co-producer for the musical Babel after the war.

Victoria Harmandjieva is a piano teacher to the Conservatory of Vevey-Montreux-Riviera.

She lectures at the school of communication CREATED in Geneva and participates as member of the jury at the international competition « 2Agosto »  in 2014 and 2015, in Bologna, Italy. 

Currently she is working on her newest spectacle “Eulogy to bitterness ” – a multidisplinary work of art which opens in May, 2015 in Vevey Switzerland, and she is recording her first CD as a soloist.
